This 5 year mushroom foraging permit meets the criteria required by the state health departments and formally approved for the foraging and selling of wild mushrooms in the following states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvannia, New York, Rhode Island. Signups will receive a study guide and slides 1 month ahead of the class.

Limited to 40 people, and no refunds will be available for this event. We might be able to move you to another class in case of emergency.

Saratoga Spa State Park, distinguished by its classical architecture and listed as a National Historic Landmark, is noted for its diverse cultural, aesthetic and recreational resources. In addition to the nationally-known Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Spa Little Theater, the National Museum of Dance, the Saratoga Automobile Museum, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Roosevelt Baths and Spa, the park offers a multitude of traditional recreation opportunities.

Taught by William Padilla, founder of MycoSymbiotics, William Padilla-Brown is a social entrepreneur, citizen scientist, mycologist, amateur ‘phychologist’, urban shaman, writer, you-tube vlogger, contributing editor for Fungi mag, researcher, poet, and father. William holds Permaculture Design Certificates acquired through Susquehanna Permaculture and NGOZI. William is leading the country in the field of Cordyceps cultivation. William regularly teaches at mushroom clubs around the country, festivals, Agricultural conferences, and more.

According to state law, wild foraged mushrooms species must be individually inspected and found to be safe by an approved mushroom identification expert that: 

(A) Has met the requirements of knowledge and passed an exam and 

(B) Will harvest only those mushrooms species listed below (Check the Approved Species List for your state’s allowed species) : 

  • Chanterelles (Cantharellus spp. Exception C. persicinus)

  • Black trumpet (Craterellus fallax)
